Jacob Rolfe

Print maker Jacob Rolfe currently works from a studio in Nova Scotia but spent several summers in Whangarei printing at Te Kowhai Print Trust at the Quarry. Jacob has completed a Political Science degree and is an alternative life-styler, thinker, and culture activist. He is deeply involved in global DIY culture and his artworks have broad international appeal. His prints have majic realist qualities with luminous colours, and strange and unusual creatures set in imaginary landscapes. They are startling, best described as zany, but displaying a strong environmental message. There is a thoughtful take on organic farming, local food sourcing, and geo-political advocacy to decommission corporate thinking and draw us back to supporting local.
