In March Hangar Gallery will curate an exhibition titled ‘The DIY Cultualists,’ at Thistle Hall in Cuba St Wellington. The exhibition is in conjunction with The Cuba Dupa festival in Cuba St. The DIY Culturalists ethos is to present the culture of art that sits within our everyday lives. • Lockdown – Covert Art Operations »

Hangar Gallery in the Regent Whangarei is hosting an art exhibition in July called
Lockdown, Covert Art Operations. All the artwork to be exhibited was created
during the recent global pandemic lockdown.
“Our aim is to curate and exhibit art created during lockdown, we want to support
creative endeavors and show art lovers what was happening in artist’s studios
throughout Northland over this time. Artists and craft makers are often
solitary in their making, working alone is business as usual, and to show the
wider Community what has been created over the few last months will be an
uplifting and interesting exhibition experience,” said the gallery’s curator Megan
    Squire.
If you would like to submit work for the exhibition please email
photos of your artwork to [email protected] before 20th June.

  • Level 2 Co-vid 19 Update »

Moving to Alert Level 2 means our business is back in operation.
The risk of COVID-19 transmission in the community remains, though the move to Alert Level 2 reflects the risk is lower. This means it’s safer to do a range of work activities, including having customers on the premises and having our wonderful worker Sally return to the gallery. From Thursday 14th May we will reopen to the public and be implementing controls to ensure the health and safety of workers and other people in our environment will be protected. This means we will only deal with one customer at a time for framing so we can provide safe distancing. Our framing samples will be cleaned between customers and the work surfaces wiped down. We will have hand sanitiser available for customer use. Individuals are welcome to visit the gallery.
Please bear with us while this restrictions are in place. Thank you for your patience and support during this time. We look forward to seeing you again. All the best Megan and Baz.

    Co-vid 19 Level 3 Restrictions

Everyone seems to be using their common sense and finding ways to open and make it work within the Government guidelines.
As picture framers we are finding ways to do consultations over the phone and via email during Level 3. We are conducting limited contactless pick- ups for urgent collection of work. We are keeping our front door closed to customers but can arrange drop-offs and pick-ups with the door shut. At this stage customers are unable to enter the premises but online payment is an option. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss framing options.
